Guess what Ka’u Coffee lovers! Not only does it smell good, and taste good, coffee is good for your health! Here is a list of reasons to drink coffee, according to Caffeine Informer.

Pain Relief: The Journal of Pain, March 2007, says “Two cups of coffee can cut post-workout muscle pain by up to 48%.”
Increased Fiber Intake
: The results of enzymatic treatment plus dialysis of commonly brewed coffee shows 0.47-0.75g of dietary fiber per 100g of coffee, which is higher than most other beverages.
Stronger DNA: A study published in the European Journal of Nutrition, showed that white blood cells of men who were given coffee to drink once daily for four consecutive weeks
had far less instances of spontaneous DNA strand breakage, compared to men who were given water to drink.
Lowered Risk of Multiple Sclerosis: A study published in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry revealed that 4 cups of coffee per day prevents the neural inflammation that leads to Multiple Sclerosis.
Lowered Risk of Liver & Colorectal Cancer: Researchers at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center found that moderate coffee drinkers have a 26% less chance of developing colorectal cancer, and a 29% less chance of developing liver cancer than non-coffee drinkers.
A Longer Lifespan: Different studies in Greece, Japan, USA, and Europe all find that coffee drinkers have less risk of dying prematurely from diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
Prevents Retinal Damage In the Eyes: A Cornell University Study showed that an antioxidant in coffee called chlorogenic acid prevents retinal damage due to oxidative stress.
Protection Against Cirrhosis of the Liver: Science Codex says “New research reveals that consuming two or more cups of coffee each day reduces the risk of death from liver cirrhosis by 66%, specifically cirrhosis caused by non-viral hepatitis.”
Prevents Cavities & Periodontal Disease: Brazilian researchers claim that strong black coffee kills the bacteria that causes cavities, and researchers involved in the US Department of Veterans Affairs Dental Longitudinal Study found that coffee showed preventive benefits against gum disease.
Reduced Risk of Type 2 Diabetes: Dr. Frank Hu of Harvard University did research showing that the risk of Type II Diabetes decreases by 9% for each cup of coffee a person drinks daily.
Reduced Risk of Melanoma: The Journal of the National Cancer Institute  published a study that found the risk of melanoma is reduced with each cup of coffee consumed daily.
Reduced Risk of Suicide & Depression: Two separate studies, one involving 86,000 female nurses and lasting ten years, shows that women who drink coffee have a reduced risk of suicide, and are 20% less likely to suffer from depression.
Reduced Risk of Heart Attack Mortality: Research shows that people who have had a heart attack, that drink two or three cups of coffee per day, show reduced risk of actually dying from the heart attack.
Reduced Risk of Parkinson’s Disease: Researchers at  Linköping University in Sweden have found that even if relatives are genetically at risk for Parkinson’s disease, the caffeine in coffee sometimes combines with the genetic variant to reduce this risk.
Reduced Risk of Heart Disease: Researchers in separate studies in Korea and in Brazil both came to the same conclusion, that people who drink three or more cups of coffee per day show less beginning signs of heart disease. The Brazilian study found that these coffee drinkers show less calcification in their coronary arteries.
Reduced Risk of Gout: A study of 45,896 men, with no prior history of gout, over a period of 12 years, shows that the more coffee a person drinks, the less risk they have of getting gout.
Helps Coworkers Get Along Better: A study in the Journal of Psychopharmacology says that workers that drink coffee feel better about themselves and others, and participate more in workplace group activities.

Many of these health benefits are likely because of the antioxidants found in the coffee bean. Caffeine Informer says: “A typical serving of coffee contains more antioxidants than typical servings of grape juice, blueberries, raspberries, and oranges.”
